Cyber Blue celebrates win Team tops 39
foes, earns right to national spot Spotlight staff
report As they headed to West
Lafayette last week, members of the Cyber Blue robotics team
had one thing in mind; all were preparing to rack and
roll. The regional game
required the Perry Meridian High School students to create
remote-controlled robots that could place inflated tubes
onto an eight-sided scoring tower. Extra points were awarded
for lifting robots partner off of the playing field.
After a total of 39 teams
competed in the regional competition, the Perry Meridian
team racked up a total of four awards, including being named

SHS team shows grit Spotlight staff
report Despite
setbacks with wiring, programming and mechanisms, the
robotics team from Southport High School finished with a
record of 4-7 during the third annual Boilermaker Regional
over the weekend. Now in its
third year, the CyberCards program consists of 18
members. "I couldn't be
prouder of our effort this weekend. We went through some
real adversity and I feel that we came out on top," said
Mike Taylor, team coach. Student team
members were also proud of the group's
performance. "We hung with
some of the best teams out there," said Tyler Kuhlman,
student captain of the team. "For our
experience level, and having one of the smaller teams there,
I thought we really made a statement that we're on our way
to being one of the better teams." The CyberCards'
next contest will be the Indiana Robotics Invitational July
20 and 21. "Hopefully we
can get the bugs worked out for that competition," Taylor
said. "With some time
to practice, I think this team can do a lot better than what
we showed. If we keep working, I believe we can make some
teams around the country take notice of us."
