HYSTERIA! Local
students pay tribute to famous people from
Indiana Fourth-grade students at
grade students at Rosa Parks-Edison Elementary School
recentlty concluded a year-long study of the great state of
Indiana with a creative twist. During the year, students
took field trips to the Indiana State Museum, the first
state capital, and the Wyandotte Caves. Then, each student
concluded a year of taking a closer look at the Hoosier
state by selecting a famous Hoosier, researching that
person, writing a biography speech, creating a costume,
making a poster, and decorating a ticket box. Students presented famous
Hoosiers to friends, family, and the community at an evening
event entitled, "Hoosier Hysteria." Fourth-grade students
took the stage and sang "On the Banks of the Wabash."
Following the musical presentation of famous Hoosier
songs, students went to an assigned area of the school where
they became "frozen statues in a wax museum." When a ticket was
deposited in the student's ticket box, that famous Hoosier
would come to life and present his or her
biography. Friends, family and
teachers were treated to a very informative and entertaining
evening.
