Grove business fair at Fall Festival The Greater Beech Grove
Chamber of Commerce (GBGCoC) Business Fair will host "Mardi
Gras in the Grove" Fall Festival Sat., Sept. 13. Set-up begins at 9 a.m.
and the Business Fair is from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Exhibitors must supply
10x10 tent, table and chair. There is no
electricity. Cost is $50 per booth
space for GBGCoC member and $75 per booth space for

Grove, 803-9109 or 407-5715, or email at
bgchamber@yahoo.com.
The Chamber announced the
next free workshop entitled "Small Business Retirement
Planning" presented by Warren Whittaker, State Farm
Insurance. The workshop will take
place 9:30-11:30 a.m. Mon., Sept. 8 at the Beech Grove
Public Library downstairs. Topics will include
Individual, as well as, Small Business Retirement, and
Business Succession Planning. Attendees must RSVP to
803-9109 or bgchamber@yahoo.com. Seating is
limited.
Beginning Sept. 8 the
Beech Grove Public Library will open at 10 a.m. and close at
4 p.m. on Saturdays. This is a decrease of two
service hours from the current 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
schedule. The change is due to
financial concerns stemming from changes in property tax
collections, the primary source of funding for the
library. The problems in funding
arise from fixed levies, delayed tax distributions due to
reassessment, late billing and collection dates. Not all tax monies have
been distributed from 2007 and billing from 2008 has been
delayed as well. Because of the changes in
the Library's Saturday hours the Dining Car Café will
also reduce their hours. The Café now opens
at 11 a.m. and closes at 6:30 p.m. Mon.- Thurs. and at 3
p.m. Friday and Saturday.
