1948

Fr. Anthony J. Lauck travelled from New York to perform his brother's marriage at St. Joan of Arc Church. Jack Lauck wed Mary Ann Bush.

Featured at the Greenwood Drive-In Theater were the Bowery Boys in "Hard Boiled Money" and "Last Roundup" with Gene Autry. Admission was 50 cents, children under 12 free.

At Miller's Regal Store, (Madison and Terrace) Velveeta Cheese was 33 cents for an 8-oz. pkg., a quart jar of Miracle Whip was 63 cents and a 12-oz. jar of pickles went for 37 cents.

1958

At Murphy's in Fountain Square, boy's dungarees were $1.49, size 6-16, polo shirts were two for 99 cents, and bobby socks were three for 99 cents.

Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Viewegh celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house.

At Dee & Vi's Beauty Salon, 1135 Shelby St. the "Souffle Coif" was the featured hair style.

Lyman C. Forbes won $500 for his entry of an 8-foot suspension bridge made entirely of Curley's One Hour Cleaners coat hangars.

Father Ryan, asst. pastor at St. Catherine's Catholic School sent a letter to the Spotlight requesting the 24 new white football uniforms with red trim be returned. No questions asked.

Charleston Apts. South, 8201 S. Madison Ave., advertised they were the prestige address at affordable prices. Rent started at $168.50 a month.

Dr. and Mrs. Gregory Dixon were honored for their 25th wedding anniversary at Baptist Temple.
